Ohio Medicaid To Host Training for OAASC Members on New ASC Payment System

Jan 24, 2017 @ 2:00 p.m. eastern

This will likely be the ONLY training prior to the July 1 implementation date.

Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM)  plans to move to a new payment system for ASCs on July 1 this year that moves away from the current grouper system to a new structure that seems to be more similar to current Medicare.   The new Enhanced Ambulatory Patient Grouping (EAPG) system is intended to modernize payments of all outpatient services and was developed by 3M Health Services.  Several other states are currently utilizing the service.

ODM will still be in charge of all overall payment levels (e.g., how much they pay you), but the new methodology will incorporate bundling (packaging) of codes into a single payment for certain procedures. As always the devil will be in details in terms of how they set those pricing levels.

The OAASC has been working over the past year to develop more productive outcomes on Medicaid with ODMs new staff overseeing ASCs.

ODM has set up a webinar for ASCs, specifically PAASC members to learn about 3M’s Enhanced Ambulatory Patient Group (EAPG) system.  The training will take place at 2:00 PM EST, on January 24th, 2017.

Dave Fee, a representative from 3M will be leading the training. The training is expected to last about 2 hours.

THIS WILL LIKELY BE THE ONLY TRAINING PRIOR TO THE JULY 1 IMPLEMENTATION!
