Mayfield Spine Surgery Center

JOB SUMMARY: Supervision & management of Business Office Functions, Financial Positions, and Business Offices Employees, reports to the Center Administrator.

The Mayfield Spine Surgery Center is the region's premier center for minimally invasive and outpatient spine surgery. Developed by neurosurgeons of the Mayfield Clinic in 2007, the Mayfield Spine Surgery Center is a partnership between Mayfield Clinic and United Surgical Partners, Inc. (USPI). It is one of the first free-standing outpatient spine surgery centers in the Midwest. Since its opening, almost 60,000 surgeries and procedures have been performed at the Center by the regions most experienced Spine and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians. The Center houses three operating rooms for spine surgery and three procedure rooms for pain management procedures. The preoperative suite has nine individual rooms providing comfort and privacy for patients. The Center is staffed and prepared for 23 hour stays as needed. Mayfield Spine Surgery Center is an AAAHC Accredited and Medicare Certified surgery center and selected by Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Ohio as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Spine Surgery. RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Admissions/ Reception
• Scheduling
• Accounts receivable
• Cash flow
• Accounts payable
• Other office functions

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hire and provide orientation and training to staff.
• Evaluate employee job performance, counsel, and discipline as necessary.
• Conduct team meetings.
• Establish and maintain personnel records.
• Human Resources Manager for the ASC
• Perform routine payroll duties.
• Maintain current policies and procedures for the Surgery Center business office.
• Provides direction and is knowledgeable on all aspects of team functions.
• Responsible for the Center's operations within all legal, regulatory, and accreditation. standards as it relates to the business office and medical records department.
• Responsible for all accounts receivable activities and ensure timely cash flow.
• Responsible for accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information.
• Responsible for implementing and ensuring that all internal controls are in place.
• Medical Records and Records Management & Achieves Manager for the ASC.
• Assists in the Monthly Operations Call and providing financial & statistics to USPI & the Partnership.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Limited to essential duties listed above.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Key member of surgery center Senior Leadership Team
• Participate in USPI EDGE program.
• Perform other activities as requested by the Center's Administrator.
• Assume appropriate operational responsibilities as necessary.
• Work with other Center employees to ensure smooth and efficient flow of patients through the Center.
• Monthly and other reporting activities as required.
• Participate in Center's Performance Improvement/ Risk Management and Accreditation teams.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, QUALIFICATION and EDUCATIONAL ANO /OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Supervisory experience, computer skills, Excel advanced user, knowledge of medical terminology, coding and billing. Mathematical skills required to calculate percentages, interest, and practical application of account receivables and accounts payable functions.

4-year college degree or equivalent experience in business, healthcare administration, ASC or Hospital preferred.
