Business Office Manager Ambulatory Surgery Center

Grove City Surgery Center

New Multi-specialty Surgery Center in Grove City, OH, with opening planned for fall, is seeking an experienced Business Office Manager to join their team.  Center consists of 5 ORs and 2 procedures rooms, with a strong service line in orthopedics.  Other services include general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastic, pain management, and endoscopy.

Position Summary:

The Business Office Manager is accountable and responsible for overseeing the business office operations of the Surgery Center. The scope of responsibility includes scheduling; accounts payable management; accounts receivable management; payroll; financial analysis; management of the business office, scheduling and reception staff; and collaboration with the billing and coding company. The Business Office Manager may be required to participate in special projects and committees at the direction of the Administrator.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day business operations
  • Provide assistance with the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to all scheduling and business functions of the Center
  • Lead and direct business office staff for effective delivery of quality patient services (e.g., accurate and efficient patient registration, )
  • Serve as a member of the Patient Care Committee
  • Responsible for annual evaluations of all clinical employees
  • Fosters an environment that promotes staff growth and development
  • Assists the Administrator with the financial management of the Center, assuring completeness of patient records and the cost-effective management of supplies, services, and equipment ordered
  • Promotes cost-effectiveness and implements procedures to control waste
  • Assists the Administrator with the review of all Ancillary Service Contracts and Letters of Agreement
  • Develops work schedules, monitors daily staffing needs and assignments
  • Responsible for the management of medical records along with the proper storage, retrieval, and release of medical records. Ensures that the center’s procedures regarding the management of the medical records are in compliance with accreditation guidelines, as well as State and Federal regulations. Conducts quarterly chart audits to ensure completeness of the medical records.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of accounts payable items according to the Center’s policies and procedures
  • Responsible for oversight of timely and accurate verification of medical benefits for all patients scheduled at the surgery center
  • Responsible for transmitting payroll information to the payroll company along with ensuring the security of all employee payroll information. The Business Office Manager will work with the Administrator to process the payroll.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining block schedule
  • Provides all financial analysis and management reports for the monthly Board meetings
  • Provides cost benefit analysis as requested by Administrator

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management preferred
  • Associate degree in Business Management with a concentration in Accounting or Finance required

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of two (2) years business office experience in a medical office or ambulatory healthcare setting that included experience with billing and collection procedures, accounts payables, and payroll
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience in a medical office, ambulatory surgery center, or acute care hospital
