Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Surgery Center

Grove City Surgery Center (GCSC), a multi-specialty surgery center in Grove City, OH, will open in the Fall 2017. GCSC is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join their team. The Center consists of 5 ORs and 2 procedure rooms, with a strong service line in orthopedics. Other services include general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastic, pain management and GI endoscopy.
Position Summary:
GCSC registered nurses are responsible for providing care for patients undergoing surgery in accordance with the instruction of a physician and the Center’s clinical policies and procedures. They are accountable to the center’s Director of Nursing.
Responsibilities:
- Participate as team members in support of the total perioperative process.
- Organize time, equipment, supplies, and personnel to provide effective and efficient case management.
- Supervise and direct patient care in a single procedure room.
- Address patient needs during admission, with attention to requirements specific to the outpatient setting.
- Transport patients to the procedure room in accordance with policies, procedures, and safety requirements while also attending to patient needs.
- Identify the patient and the correct surgical intervention in accordance with policies and procedures and communicates this information to all members of the surgical team.
- Observe time-out in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Review patients’ medical records and specific needs to coordinate care with other healthcare team members.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to patients.
- Explain intraoperative phase of routine procedures and care to patients.
- Perform the circulating nurse’s role and functions while following approved GCSC policies and procedures.
- Prepare procedure room according to requirements of patient and procedure to be performed.
- Assemble and provide properly functioning equipment, supplies, and instruments before start of procedure, and positions and adjusts equipment as required during procedure.
- Anticipate needs of surgical team and assists anesthesia personnel by supporting patient during administration of anesthesia.
- Assist with the proper and safe positioning of the patient and prepare operative sites as directed by physician.
- Respond in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician.
- Monitor compliance with principles of aseptic technique.
- Provide continuity of patient care by communicating with other perioperative care personnel and documenting accordingly.
- Complete patient care records and other forms accurately and in accordance with GCSC policies and procedures.
- Advise others responsible for care of the patient about patient’s status.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Organize nursing activities efficiently and effectively.
- Delegate activities appropriately according to the abilities of available staff members.
- Contain costs by using supplies efficiently and by keeping turnover time to a minimum.
- Assist in maintaining adequate supply, drug, and equipment inventories.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years as a registered nurse in Ambulatory Surgery Center
- Previous Main OR experience as circulator a plus
Required Licensure and Certification:
- Current licensure as a professional Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification
