Director of Nursing Ambulatory Surgery Center

Grove City Surgery Center

New Multi-specialty Surgery Center in Grove City, OH, with opening planned for fall, is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing to join their team.  The Center consists of 5 ORs and 2 procedure rooms, with a strong service line in orthopedics.  Other services include general surgery, urology, gynecology, plastic, pain management and endoscopy.

Position Summary:

The Director of Nursing is accountable and responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the clinical operations of the surgery center. This individual ensures that patient needs are met in accordance with the instruction of a physician and the Center’s clinical policies and procedures. Coordinates activities routinely as appropriate, with the Administrator, the Medical Director, Charge Nurse, the Business Office and the Quality Committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations
  • Provide assistance with the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to all clinical areas
  • Ensure the delivery of effective and efficient management of the Center
  • Serve as a member of the Patient Care Committee
  • Ensure that preoperative, operating room, and postoperative patient care services are provided in accordance with written policies and procedures and in compliance with various regulatory and accreditation agencies
  • Maintain a collegial relationship with physicians and Allied Health professionals to ensure quality patient care.
  • Works closely with the materials manager to maintain an adequate inventory of preoperative, operating room, and postoperative equipment and supplies
  • Responsible for clinical personnel management, which includes recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and retention of clinical employees
  • Responsible for the daily supervision of all clinical employees and delegation of duties to ensure the efficient operation of all clinical areas (e.g., pre-op/OR/PACU/SPD), effective patient care and quality improvement
  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, supplies, and personnel
  • Responsible for fostering an environment that promotes staff growth and development
  • Works closely with the Administrator and Business Office Manager for ensuring that scheduled cases are compliant with the Center’s Board of Managers approved procedure list
  • Provide assistance with the ordering, receiving, and storage of supplies
  • Responsible for annual evaluations of all clinical employees
  • Foster an environment that promotes staff growth and development
  • Maintain the ability to function as a back-up for all RN positions within the Center
  • Assume responsibility for patient, physician, and staff satisfaction as it pertains to the clinical areas.
  • Respond to physician, employee, patient, and visitor complaints

 

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years as Director of Nursing/Supervisor in Ambulatory Surgery Center
  • Previous OR experience as circulator a plus

Required Licensure and Certification:

  • Current licensure as a professional Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio
  • Current BCLS and ACLS certification
