Ambulatory Surgery Center Director

This is a full-time (M-F) (8a-5p) position.

DESCRIPTION    

Supervision Exercised:

  • Provides direction to clinical, technical, and clerical staff.

General Summary:

  • Primary responsibilities are to supervise non clinical staff; provide administrative support to physician leadership and department management; coordinate all forms of data collection and reporting; coordinates projects as assigned.

Works under the supervision of physician leadership.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensures proper staffing levels in order to meet the demands of the Outpatient Surgery department. Effectively recruits, retains, evaluates, and disciplines staff.
  • Oversees support staff and ensures they are performing their functions correctly.
  • Coordinates and facilitates departmental AAAHC, CMS, Health Department, Fire Marshall and other surveys.
  • Researches and determines case profitability for new procedures.
  • Researches new cases to determine the needs of physicians, inventory, equipment, and develop new preference cards.
  • Ensures equipment is properly maintained and handles equipment failure/maintenance issues.
  • Accountable for the daily operation of the Outpatient Surgery schedule.
  • Oversees and assists the OPS Office Manager with the development of the physician block schedule.
  • Plans, develops, and coordinates departmental Infection Prevention program.
  • Plans, develops and coordinates required CMS quality reporting and benchmarking activities.
  • Oversees the credentialing and re-credentialing of OPS physicians.
  • Effectively communicate with the physicians and staff and keep them updated on issues of concern.
  • Provides input for employee evaluations.
  • Develop and review policies and procedures for the department. Conducts policy review for AORN, ASPAN or other organizational standards
  • Maintains a liaison role with staff, physicians, departments, etc.
  • Serve on committees and attend meetings as appropriate.
  • Addresses and solves problems with the scope of the job.
  • Evaluates the need for new equipment and supplies and makes recommendations.
  • Functions in the Clinical area as needed.

Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):

  • Analyze and interpret department financials and assist the OPS Financial Director with budget formation.
  • Perform clinical and/or clerical work for the betterment of OPS
  • Required to review and process required Toledo Clinic clinical services requirements
  • Assist/monitor physician and staff with work list compliance
  • Monitor and manage all monthly and weekly administrative and event reports as well as monitor and coordinate required accountability logs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • At least 5 years of clinical perioperative experience required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.
  • Consistently arrives at work in professional attire, on time and completes all task within established timeframe.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current State of Ohio RN license - Preferred

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree (Nursing - Preferred)

Preferred:

  • Previous surgical management experience and demonstrated verbal and written communications skills preferred.
